Supporting employees who give back: Joe Bautista and the Child Haus story

September 30, 2025

At eCreation, we believe that our success as a company goes beyond the boundaries of code, cloud, and content workflows. It’s also about the people who make up our global team, and the positive impact they create in their own communities. Across the UK, Poland, and the Philippines, eCreation is home to people who are not only passionate about technology but also about making a difference.

One of those people is Joe Bautista, a long-standing member of our team based in the Philippines. Alongside his work at eCreation, Joe has devoted countless hours to supporting Child Haus, a remarkable non-profit organisation that provides temporary shelter for children with cancer who have no place to stay in Manila while undergoing treatment.

About Child Haus

Child Haus, which celebrated its 21st anniversary earlier this year, was founded with a simple but powerful purpose, to give young patients from across the Philippines a safe place to live while they receive lifesaving medical care in the capital. Many of these children come from far-flung provinces, where access to specialised treatment is limited.

At Child Haus, each child is housed together with a parent or guardian. The organisation covers accommodation, food, and essential support for treatment and medication. It’s a lifeline for families who would otherwise face the impossible choice between seeking treatment and having a roof over their heads.

The project began in a modest housing compound in Quezon City, but its compassion inspired others. In 2011, a leading property developer stepped in to build a new seven-storey building, dramatically expanding the organisation’s capacity. Today, Child Haus continues to provide not just shelter, but a sense of family and hope for children facing some of the toughest battles imaginable.

The Annual Outreach Programme

For Joe, Child Haus is more than a cause — it’s a community he has been deeply involved with for years. This year marked the sixth annual outreach programme organised by Joe and his network of friends, who share the same passion for supporting the children and their families.

The outreach programme is a celebration of life, strength, and joy. Every year since 2019, Joe and fellow volunteers have hosted a party at Child Haus for the children and their guardians. It’s a day filled with games, laughter, and food — all designed to give the kids a chance to forget their hospital visits and treatments, even for just a few hours.

Over the years, the events have grown more creative and engaging. One year, a magician performed for the children; another year, a therapy dog visited, offering free hugs and unconditional love. For 2025, the team brought in cosplayers to bring favourite superheroes and cartoon characters to life — creating moments of wonder and excitement that the kids will never forget.

Every outreach day is planned with care. The food served follows the dietary guidelines for the children’s health, ensuring that everyone can join in safely. The team also makes sure there are plenty of toys, games, and loot bags filled with snacks and small gifts to take home.

Perhaps the most touching part of the day comes at the end, when the children, parents, and staff sing a song of thanks to the volunteers — a heartfelt reminder of why this work matters.

Making a Difference Together

This year’s outreach event also raised funds for Christmas gifts, medicines, urgent operations, and medical services, helping Child Haus continue its essential mission. At eCreation, we were proud to contribute to this effort.

As Joe explains, “Everyone who gets involved — colleagues, friends, volunteers — brings something different. Together, we’re able to give the kids a few hours of joy and their families a moment to breathe. That’s what keeps me coming back each year.”

For eCreation, Joe’s work embodies our values as a company. We believe that supporting our team means supporting the causes they care about.

Giving Back as Part of Our Culture

eCreation is a company built around collaboration, not just between teams and technologies, but between people and their wider communities. Whether it’s mentoring developers, supporting education initiatives, or helping grassroots charities, we want to create an environment where our employees feel empowered to make an impact.

By contributing to Joe’s work with Child Haus, we’re not only helping a worthy cause but also strengthening the connection between our company and the communities we’re part of. As a distributed organisation with team members across multiple countries, that sense of shared purpose is vital. It reminds us that technology’s true potential lies in how it serves people.

Looking Ahead

As Child Haus continues to grow, so too does the need for support. Donations help fund not only day-to-day operations but also vital medical treatment and improvements to the facility itself. For those who want to help, contributions can be made directly to the organisation by contacting Child Haus Manila at +63 977 813 9485 or by messaging their Facebook page at fb.com/childhausph.

Joe and his fellow volunteers are already looking ahead to next year’s outreach — brainstorming new ideas, games, and surprises that will once again bring light to the children’s faces.

A Shared Commitment to Compassion

At eCreation, stories like Joe’s inspire us. They remind us that even in a company driven by technology and innovation, empathy and humanity must always come first.

We’re proud of Joe and of everyone at eCreation who takes time to give back — whether through charity work, mentoring, or local community projects. Supporting our employees in their efforts to improve the world around them is one of the most meaningful investments we can make.
